Frequently Asked Questions

  • Kiln-dried logs are the gold standard for efficiency. They are dried in a controlled environment to a moisture content typically below 20%. Unlike naturally seasoned wood, which can vary in quality, kiln-dried logs:

    • Burn Hotter and Longer: Less energy is wasted evaporating water, resulting in a higher heat output.

    • Are Cleaner: They produce significantly less smoke and creosote, which protects your chimney and improves air quality.

    • Are Ready to Burn: They can be used immediately upon delivery.

    • Browse & Select: Visit the TimberCulture APP to choose your fuel type and quantity (Number of bags).

  • Logs should be kept in a dry, well-ventilated area, ideally off the ground in a purpose-built log store. Covering them promptly after delivery is essential to maintain their low moisture content.

  • Sustainability is at the core of our business.

All our timber—whether for logs, joinery, or biomass—is sourced from sustainably managed UK woodlands.

We prioritise suppliers who adhere to strict forestry stewardship standards, ensuring that our products contribute to healthy ecosystems and responsible resource management.

  • Hardwood (e.g., Oak, Ash, Beech) is denser, meaning it burns longer and provides a more sustained, intense heat. It is generally best for overnight heating or long evenings.

Softwood (e.g., Pine, Spruce) is less dense and ignites much faster, making it perfect for kindling or short, lively fires.
